Project Scope

The average age of the population in Uganda is just 15!  War, AIDS, and poor medical care have brought disaster to the lives of millions of children, as many are left to fend for themselves at a young age.  Orphanages are overflowing, and many serve to only temporarily delay the harsh realities of life from imposing the responsibility of survival on these young ones.  Consequently, vast numbers of young people in Uganda receive little or no training or guidance before reaching adulthood.

In response to this dire need, New Hope Uganda (NHU) has developed a concept to create a Manhood and Womanhood training site, where young men and women will be challenged and trained using biblical principles in what it means to be a true “man” or “woman” of God.  To accomplish this mission, NHU has recently purchased nearly 1100 acres on the shores of beautiful Lake Victoria, the second largest fresh water lake in the World (looking at a globe or atlas – it’s the big, round body of water in the center of Africa), where it will construct facilities to house the Training Center and Camp.

NHU is no stranger to Uganda, having established a Children’s Center in central Uganda in 1986 that continues today and has now cared for well over 1000 orphaned and abandoned children over the past 20 years.  With a track record of experience in the culture and their finger on the pulse of where God is moving in Uganda, NHU is uniquely equipped to bring such an ambitious endeavor to life.  Programs will be available to young people from all over Uganda, connecting through churches and children’s centers.  Programs to be offered include weekend programs, two-week training programs during school holidays, three-month programs for long vacations and nine-month programs for those who want to develop leadership skills.

Having recently completed their land purchase, NHU has asked eMi to help with a Master Plan layout, Phase 1 building design, water and wastewater system design, and electrical power options.  We are looking for an architect to help the team with the master plan and building layout, a civil engineer to assist in the water and wastewater system design, an electrical engineer to research the power supply options for the site, and a graphic designer to help with promotional materials and the design report.

New Hope Uganda is exemplifying what Christ has called each of us to do by reaching out to the physically and spiritually poor children of Uganda.  Will you consider standing beside them and joining our team in having an eternal impact on the lives of the young people of Uganda?  Ten days on the shores of Lake Victoria, where the lush African ‘bush’ meets the source of the mighty Nile River, awaits those who would answer ‘yes’ to the call of using your talents and abilities to advance the Kingdom of God on the other side of the world!
