Project Scope
Founded in 1913 as the Bishop Tucker Theological College, Uganda Christian University has grown into "a centre for excellence in the heart of Africa". Seeking to communicate the Christian worldview in study, in fellowship, and in worship to a population of 4500 students, the university offers a fully accredited and internationally recognized range of degree and post graduate level courses from Theology to Information Technology, including one of only two recognized Law Programs in the country.
The existing campus is sprawled across 80 acres on Mukono Hill, with a crisscrossing network of pathways, many of which are simple dirt paths transformed into slippery mud as natural drainage corridors in the rainy season. The university is in desperate need to correct the drainage problems, but would like to do so in a way which is not merely functional, but also beautiful and enjoyable for student use. They envision a pathway system that includes seating, lighting, open and shaded areas, water access, and safety features for those with impaired mobility.
This is a unique project requiring a specialized team to continue the longstanding relationship between eMi and UCU, spanning multiple projects over many years. Join us this summer to help bring about improved functionality and circulation, coherence, and beautification to one of Africa's most respected Christian Universities.
