Philip's Story
I grew up in Africa, the son of missionary parents, and grew to know God in boarding school at Rift Valley Academy in Kenya.  I met my wife Emily there.  We long-distance dated for two years before we were married in San Luis Obispo, CA.  We served as foster parents and hosts for foreign exchange students, learning how to live the gospel and bring it to those who don't know Jesus.  Our home fellowship group was an incredible place of learning and sharing our faith, where God built around us a Christ-following community that feels as close as family.  While we invested in our church and developed strong roots in San Luis Obispo, we also felt God calling us to serve Him in Africa.

God opened doors for us to partner with old high school friends in the construction of a bridge in Sudan, and immediately afterward we joined EMIs East Africa office in Uganda.  We spent one year in Jinja, where I managed the construction of a Youth Centre for an evangelical school of ministry on the banks of the Nile River.  We now live in work in Kampala, sharing the work of both structural engineering and coordinating the intern program.
